Welcome!

The art of improvising is fundamental to our mental health, our spiritual well-being, and our capacity for free and mindful communication.

We improvise naturally every single day. Whether we are making art, educating a student, or providing care for another, we listen and respond in a continuous flow of interactive and improvised awareness. Yet few of us give ourselves credit for our gifts. How can we experience ourselves as whole and connected with each other, in a world that appears to be fragmenting?

Shared art making is the expression of, the vehicle for, and the stimulus to human relationships. What we have to express is already with us, is us, so the work of creativity is not a matter of making the material come, but of unblocking the obstacles to its natural flow. Understanding, joy, responsibility, and peace come from the full use of the human imagination.

Keynote & Performance

In a world often split and troubled, play and creativity are revolutionary acts. Stephen will guide us through questions of how intuitive music, or inspiration of any kind, arises within us. How it may be blocked, derailed, or obscured by certain unavoidable facts of life, and how it is finally liberated – how we are finally liberated – to speak or sing, write or paint, with our own authentic voice.

Half- and Full-Day Workshop

In this experiential workshop we will immerse ourselves in a series of interactive mental and physical improvisational exercises. Together, we will explore cooperating as an ensemble, exchanging signals of give-and-take, stimulus and response, mutual respect and playfulness. Thinking as nature thinks, playing as nature plays, being whole.

This event series is organised by Angelina Castellini and impro studio. Angelina explores how we as humans can relate improvisationally to ourselves, each other, and our environments. As the founder of impro studio, she offers support for people to recognise, train and act on their improvisation abilities.
